Study abroad dreams become reality for four more winners through the Global Study Awards
Amsterdam, 12 September 2017 – Four more students are set to make their dreams to study abroad a reality thanks to the latest round of The Global Study Awards.
Now in their third year, the awards – which are run by British Council IELTS, the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and Study Portals – aim to encourage more students to study overseas in order to further intercultural understanding and exchange.
Since 2015, thirteen students have received financial support through the awards with the latest winners being selected from over 90,000 applicants.
The winners were selected on the basis that their studies would contribute to society and that they, as individuals, had a strong commitment to developing their career as well as a genuine interest in increasing intercultural understanding.
The winners are:
- Shine Aung – (Myanmar/Netherlands) going to study a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences at Georgetown University, USA
- Clara Kamphorst Leal da Silva – (Brazil) going to study a Master’s in Law at Leiden University, Netherlands
- Kingston Nwosu – (Nigeria) going to study a Master’s in Finance and Management at Cranfield University, UK.
- Amanda Lucia de Toro Alimonda – (Argentina) going to study a Master of Public Policy (MPP) at Oxford University, UK.
Commenting on receiving a Global Study Award, Kingston Nwosu from Nigeria said:
“Over the years, I have learned to dream big even if I don’t have the means. Foreign post-graduate education has been one of those dreams and now I’m set to make it a reality. I am grateful to the Global Study Awards for believing in my potential. I will maximize this opportunity to achieve my career goals, and to inspire others to keep their dreams alive.”
Each Global Study Award is merit-based, aimed at students over the age of 18 who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme, in any country worldwide. The latest award winners will join the prestigious list of past Global Study Award winners from Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Palestine territories, Taiwan, and Uganda who chose study abroad destinations in Australia, Germany, Greece and the United Kingdom.
The £10,000 available for each award is used to cover tuition fees, and is directly provided to the students’ university of choice. If the tuition fee is lower than the £10,000, the remaining amount can be used to cover living expenses for up to 52 weeks during the studies.
To win the award, students need to show their potential to contribute to society through their studies, their strong commitment to developing their careers, and a sincere interest in intercultural understanding and exchange.
